AFP COLUMNIST & FORMER REP. URGES PROBE OF FORMER DHS
CHIEF CHERTOFF

By Jim Traficant
Many of you have read Michael
Collins Piper’s book Target Traficant.
Michael has a gift of expression utilizing the printed (and spoken) word. Reading
the book, you begin to understand how obsessed our government and the Justice
Department was in removing yours truly from Congress. They could not bear my
voice reverberating around the Capitol completely insulated by the speech and
debate clause of our Constitution.
Our government was so pleased
with the Traficant conviction that they promoted Justice Department official Michael
Chertoff to the No. 1 position of the powerful and important Homeland Security
Department. The boss. The big guy. Big shot. Chertoff “got” Traficant. That
wasn’t all. Cleveland Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig Morford was elevated to the
No. 2 position in the Department of Justice. In fact, Morford became the acting
attorney general after the departure of A.G. Alberto Gonzalez. Morford and
Chertoff “got” Traficant. Well, now the chickens seem to be coming home to roost.
What is Chertoff’s new gig?
“The Chertoff Group.” Chertoff now
represents companies, many of which do business with the United States
government. Morford is also in the private sector now. He is chief compliance officer
for Cardinal Health, Inc., a Fortune 20 corporation. Reports say Morford is
earning his keep.
Morford is being credited with
successfully reducing Cardinal Health’s delinquent tax assessment of over
$600,000, down to a manageable $50,000. After all, Morford has connections.
Chertoff is not much different.
One of the Chertoff Group’s clients is a company named Rapiscan. Rapiscan is in
the money. Rapiscan makes full-body scanners to protect our airplanes from
terrorists. The trouble is when Chertoff was chief of Homeland Security,
Homeland Security started buying scanners from Rapiscan for $160,000—that’s
right, for each one. In fact, in 2008 alone, Rapiscan got $26.5 million from Homeland
Security—and $41.4 million from all government agencies combined.
Numbers prove that the Chertoff
Group is becoming the most high-powered and deep-pocketed national security consulting
firm in the United States.
According to insiders, Chertoff took full advantage of the attempted attack on
Northwest Flight 253 by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, known as “the crotch bomber.”
Chertoff claimed America
needed full-body scanners to prevent these types of disasters.
Chertoff wanted funding on a
large scale, and Chertoff got it.
If that’s not enough to bomb your
crotch, it was recently announced that “11 major airports will begin using full
body scanners and plan to buy 1,000 of the machines over the next two years.”
Think about it. Chertoff was a
big supporter of full-body scanners when he was the top dog at the Department of
Homeland Security. Yeah, right, who’s kidding whom?
Chertoff should be investigated.
If this isn’t a classic case of conflict of interest and is not a crime, I don’t
know what is.
The truth is, there’s some
rumbling about Chertoff’s actions in this matter—but who will question it? Chertoff
should be subpoenaed by a grand jury, and his involvement with this Rapiscan
contract should be scrutinized and investigated.
I say Chertoff used his power,
contacts and influence to make huge personal gains from the sale of these
1,000-plus body scanners at a price of $160,000 each. Chertoff allowed our
borders to be wide open while demanding full body scanners.
Beam me up!
As forMorford, he could be in
deep criminal trouble as well. You see, Morford pressured an honest American by
the name of Richard Detore to falsely testify that Detore “saw John Cafaro give
J.T. [JimTraficant] $10,000 in J.T.’s Washington,
D.C. office.” Detore refused,
saying, “I will not lie against J.T.”
Morford then pressured Detore to
state that he “was standing outside J.T.’s office and heard the deal.” Detore
said, “I will not lie against J.T.” Morford then indicted Detore charging that
Detore had “influenced the bribe on J.T.”
At trial, Morford then maneuvered
John Cafaro into falsely testifying that he, Cafaro, “gave J.T the cash in my [Cafaro’s]
car inYoungstown, Ohio.”
And that’s not all. Morford also pressured businessman Nambdi Okolo to lie.
When Okolo refused, he was sent to prison and then was deported to Nigeria. Now, Okolo
has submitted an affidavit to the Nigerian government stating that, “Prosecutor
Morford pressured me to lie about J.T. and Detore. I refused. I couldn’t do it;
Detore has two children, just like me.”
So, Okolo’s life has been ruined.
Okolo flatly states: “I was imprisoned and deported because I would not break the
law and perjure myself for Morford.”
You now get the picture of these
two bums: Chertoff and Morford are birds of a feather.
By the way, I, J.T., now need one
government whistleblower in Cleveland, Ohio to come forward and admit that the
prosecution lied at my trial when they voluntarily stated they “made no tapes,
audio or video, on J.T,” even though it was revealed that the Traficant
investigation was conducted over a six-year period—by over 250 government
agents at a cost to taxpayers exceeding $15 million. This was done at a time
when the World Trade Center
and Pentagon were being attacked. I need one honest whistleblower to admit that
the government has thousands of tapes on hand—but not one tape out of those
thousands captured any crimes by yours truly.
Think about it. The government
claims it didn’t even tap my phones? If you believe that, you are part of the problem.
They made boxes and boxes of tapes.
You see, folks, the government
had no physical evidence against me. Prosecutors only had the forced, extorted
testimony of witnesses who avoided prison for lying for Morford and Chertoff.
As former Secret Service Agent
Mike Robertson stated:
“J.T. was falsely convicted. . .
. The reason the government claimed they made no tapes is because J.T. could have
used the tapes as evidence that no crime was committed.” So much for justice.
These birds of a feather,
Chertoff and Morford, have a day of reckoning to contend with before thismatter
is history. And as my Grandma Farkas always said, “Birds of a feather flock
together.”
Grandma Farkas was very smart.
Get back at me!
James A. (Jim) Traficant, Jr. was born in Youngstown, Ohio on May 8,
1941. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of
Pittsburgh, where he was a well-known football star. He also received a M.S. degree from Youngstown State University in 1976. For ten years he served as executive director of the Mahoning County (Ohio) Drug Program and from 1981-1985 he served as sheriff of Mahoning County, prior to his election to the U.S. Congress as a Democrat in 1984. He
was re-elected by overwhelming margins every year up until 2002 when,
following his conviction on trumped up corruption charges, he was
expelled from the House of Representatives. Despite his conviction and
expulsion and being sent to prison for a seven year term Traficant
still won 15% of the vote running for re-election to the House in the
2002 election as an independent. He recently completed a seven-year
prison sentence, having refused to seek a pardon or clemency,
refusing to admit to or apologize for crimes he did not commit.

The book TARGET: Traficant tells the outrageous inside story of how the
Justice Department, the Israeli Lobby and the American mass media conspired to
set up and take down former Rep. Jim Traficant. Michael Collins Piper dissects
the intrigues of the Justice Department and the FBI and demonstrates that the
congressman was innocent of all of the charges on which he was convicted and
that the entire criminal case against him was fabricated. Includes a special
appendix outlining the previous Justice Department frame-up of former
Pennsylvania State Treasurer Budd Dwyer resulting in his tragic public suicide.
