SHERIFF WON’T EVICT

  rss202

By Ralph Forbes

The rich are getting richer, and the poor, poorer. That’s not news. The real news is that the American middle class is being reduced to an indigent
class. We need a real-life Robin Hood—someone who will protect the ordinary American from the depredations of the international plutocrats and bankers.

Enter Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart from Chicago. He comes on the troubling scene after weeks of big headlines and damaging accusations of shoddy foreclosure paperwork that may have caused hundreds of people to be illegally evicted from their homes. And with that, Dart recently announced that he would no longer be evicting people following foreclosure procedures.

America has a tradition of honest sheriffs who protect the widows, orphans and honest citizens. Today we have such a heroic sheriff who is protecting the folks in his county from the voracious parasites behind the flood of foreclosure frauds.

“I can’t possibly be expected to evict people from their homes when the banks themselves can’t say for sure everything was done properly,” Dart said in a statement. “I need some kind of assurance that we aren’t evicting families based on fraudulent behavior by the banks. Until that happens, I can’t in good conscience keep carrying out evictions involving these banks,” he added.

Another heroic sheriff who protected people from being wrongfully evicted was eventually locked up for doing the right thing. That former sheriff is “Big Jim” Traficant. The people elected  him to Congress in eastern Ohio. In 1985, when Traficant was first elected to Congress, unemployment in Youngstown was a crushing 25 percent. By 2002 Youngstown’s unemployment rate had dropped to 7 percent.

He continued to fight for the people against the crooks. For doing so many good things, the Washington insiders framed Traficant to get him out of Congress. To prison he went. Ever since Traficant has not been in Congress to say, “Beam me up,” every time legislators did something stupid or crooked, real unemployment in Youngstown has skyrocketed to somewhere near 40 percent.

America needs more than the legendary Robin Hood—we need sheriffs like Tom Dart and representatives like Jim Traficant.
